NFSC 470: Medical Nutrition Therapy
Skill Areas: Clinical Nutrition
Assignment Title: Case Study
What I Learned: In this assignment I learned how to assess a case using the nutrition care process: assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluating. In completing this assignment I learned how to use the patient’s assessment and clinical diagnoses to make a nutrition diagnosis. I also learned how to calculate the patient’s usual body weight, ideal body weight, and BMI to estimate the calorie and protein needs of the patient. In doing so, I created a PES statement that further led the intervention and monitoring and evaluation that followed.
Reflection to assignment: This assignment helped me to understand how extensive the Nutrition Care Process is and how important it is to pay attention to detail.
Relevance to the profession: Medical Nutrition Therapy is an important component in the Nutrition and Food Science Profession. It is greatly used in the clinical setting where nutrition plays an important role in healing.
